Kaikōura Lodge Booking Information

The Canterbury Underwater Club Lodge offers a fantastic facility to both members and non-members with dedicated boat parking, gear washing facilities, fish filleting stations, crayfish cooker, BBQ  and a fully equipped communal cooking and living area.

PLEASE NOTE: that while pillows with pillowcases and bottom sheets are provided, you need to bring your own bedding. A laundry fee of $10 per person per stay is required to cover the cost of commercially laundering the CUC linen after your stay. 

The main building can sleep a maximum of 21 people in its’ five rooms (1 to 5), specific rooms can be requested when booking but may change to accommodate the number of persons in a party.

The Annex rooms (11 & 16) will usually be reserved for members only unless the entire Lodge has been booked for a Group.

The lodge accommodation is not normally available to non-members during holiday weekends and the Christmas holiday period, however this may be dependent on member demand.

Member Rates

Immediate family members are eligible for member rates, this applies specifically to partners and dependents residing in the same household.

Members and Partners       $15.00 per person per night

Dependent child 18+        $22.00 per night

Child 5-17 years                 $5.00 per child per night

Child under 5 years             Free

Member Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Deadline
Members must cancel their booking no later than mid-day on the scheduled day of arrival to avoid charges.

Late Cancellation Fee
Cancellations made after mid-day on the scheduled day of arrival will incur a fee equivalent to one night’s stay.

No-Show Consequence
Failure to cancel will result in the booking being classified as a no-show, the total cost of the booking will be charged.

Holiday Clause
For bookings during holiday periods, cancellation is required a minimum of three (3) days prior to the scheduled arrival date. Cancellations made after this deadline may result in a charge of the total cost of the booking, especially if the booking prevented another member from reserving the same dates or if the accommodation cannot be rebooked for the same period. This decision will be at the discretion of the Canterbury Underwater Club committee.

Non-Member Rates

Adult  18+ years         $45.00 per person per night

Child    5-17 years      $20 per child per night

Child    Under 5          $5 per child per night

Vouchers can be used for non-members (for a stay when accompanied by a member) but will be redeemed at the non-member price.

Non-Member Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Deadline
Non-member guests must cancel their booking no later than seven (7) days prior to the scheduled day of arrival.

Post-Deadline Cancellation Conditions
Following the Cancellation Deadline, or once in residence, cancellations due to a change of mind, non-ideal weather forecasts, or cancellation of a chartered trip are ineligible for a refund.

Refund Eligibility
Refunds for unused accommodation nights may be considered under the following circumstances:

  1. Mandatory evacuation due to natural or man-made disasters as directed by relevant authorities.
  2. Serious accidents, incidents, or death involving the individual, group members, or their immediate family.
  3. Contagious illness outbreaks officially reported by health authorities.
  4. Closure of the lodge by the Canterbury Underwater Club for any reason.

Refund Application Process
Refund requests are subject to review and approval by the Canterbury Underwater Club committee at their next scheduled meeting.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to the club secretary, either through the club’s postal address (P.O.Box 2287, Christchurch) or via email, with appropriate supporting documentation attached. 

Lodge Booking Information

Bookings are handled by the Lodge Cleaning and Booking Manager in conjunction with Lyn and Paul Meikle from Anchor Inn Motel. To lessen the impact on Lyn and Paul in the running of their own business, we kindly ask that you respect the following instructions:

  1. All bookings must be made using the booking request form here: https://forms.maker.co.nz/cuc/.
  2. Any booking enquiries, changes or cancellations must be made to the Lodge Cleaning and Booking Manager via email (lodgebookings@canterburyunderwater.org.nz) or phone (0276600003).
  3. For any group booking, preference is for one person to go to Anchor Inn Motel office to pay for all accommodation and to uplift all room keys (this speeds up the process for all concerned).
  4. Upon collection of keys, your membership card must be shown to avail yourself of the member rates.
  5. Payment must be made:
    • Prior to arrival via an online bank transfer
      • Name of Bank:  BNZ   
      • Account:  Canterbury Underwater Club Inc
      • Account Number: 02-0828-0162966-002
    • OR; upon collection of keys – vouchers and cash only please, NO EFTPOS.
  6. Uplift keys after 11:30am and before 7:00pm.
  7. On day of departure from the lodge the allocated bedrooms must be vacated by 11.30 am. Fitted sheets and pillow cases are to be placed in the baskets in the laundry.
  8. Members and non-members may remain on site after 11:30am until they have finished packing up, cleaning, and washing dive gear, keeping in mind that any new arrivals will require full use of the facilities.
  9. If a large group is arriving on the day of your departure, or the entire lodge is booked out, you must depart the lodge by 12.00pm.

General Lodge Rules and Obligations for ALL Users

  • No Pets of any description to be taken onto or into any part of Club Lodge facilities unless the committee receives a request in writing prior to staying in the Lodge and approves pets to be there under special circumstances only.
  • Any visiting guests may not over-night at the lodge unless booking and registration is completed with the booking agent prior to 8.00 pm and it does not interfere with any other persons booking.
  • No smoking is permitted at the Club Lodge.
  • Alcohol consumption is permitted in moderation.
  • Noise levels are to be kept to a minimum in the evening to be respectful of neighbours and to others staying at the lodge. Any complaints may result in loss of bond.
  • Any damage to the facility or contents must be reported immediately to the club treasurer.
  • No undersize Fish/Crayfish/Shellfish or excess quota of any species to be kept at the club lodge.
  • BBQ and Crayfish Cooker are only to be used outside.
  • Clean up when you leave. Leave the lodge as you would like to find it.
  • Keys must be returned to the booking agent on the day of departure, lost keys will incur a $25.00 fee.
  • Please direct any complaints (other than minor booking issues), suggestions or issues with the lodge facilities to a committee member.
  • A deposit and a bond may be payable for larger groups and non-members. You will be advised by email once your booking request is submitted.

These conditions of use of the Lodge are authorized by the President, Treasurer, and Secretary of the Canterbury Underwater Club Inc.
